The prostate is a small gland, about the size of a walnut, located just below the bladder in males. As men age, the prostate glad enlarges up to four times its size mainly due to hormonal shifts and lifestyle factors. At times symptoms become uncomfortable that can affect normal day to day routine.

What Happens When the Prostate Enlarges?

  • Urinating often, particularly during the night

  • Difficulty starting or stopping urination

  • Painful urination

  • Feeling that the bladder is not completely empty

Possible causes

  • Over exposure to microplastics and petrochemicals that are known to be endocrine disruptors

  • Over production of DHT ( potent form of testosterone)

  • prolonged sitting- causes stagnation in circulation and increases inflammation

  • underlying neurological condition

Hormonal Changes and DHT Overproduction

DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is a supercharged version of testosterone. For some men, their prostate either makes or holds onto more DHT, which increases cell growth in the gland, leading to an enlarged prostate.

Environmental Exposures

Exposure to certain chemicals found in micro plastics and petrochemicals may disrupt hormone balance. These substances, known as endocrine disruptors, can mimic or interfere with natural hormones, potentially influencing prostate growth.

Some neurological disorders affect bladder control and prostate function, resulting in impairment in nerve signaling to bladder and prostate which can worsen urinary symptoms that is associated with prostate enlargement .
